Brand Counsel from the start for one of Scotland’s most distinctive, direct-to consumer, purposeful enterprises, ‘The Social Distillery’

​An idea about bringing people together to share a sense of belonging to this elemental island, our purpose and the importance of community.

I’ve provided sole Brand Counsel to the board on all the important issues from development of the gin and its packaging, through to what we sell in our ‘canteen’, cask sales strategy, communications approaches, selection of digital agencies and brand positioning for our future whisky, The Hearach.

The gin has outsold targets since launch and has been twice named Scotland’s favourite. It’s won Gin distillery of the year and best branding at the Scottish Gin Awards. But the greatest achievement is the provision of local employment for 25 people, optimism on the island and the warmth with which islanders have embraced the enterprise as their own .
